Single Family Fire Assistance

The American Red Cross is mandated by Congressional Charter to assist families that have been burned out of their homes or suffered loss from a disaster situation.  We are called upon by fire departments and other emergency services agencies to provide assistance to disaster victims in Ashtabula County. We are responsible for providing basic emergency assistance of food, clothing and immediate shelter to those individuals and families that have been affected by a disaster. The Red Cross is available 24 hours a day providing these services to the community. Victims of fire or disaster situations can contact the Ashtabula County Red Cross at 440-998-1020 for assistance. A trained caseworker will evaluate each case indiviudally to best determine how to meet the victims' needs.

Disaster Education

Disaster Education is one of the main objectives of the Red Cross mission. It is our duty to prepare the public for emergencies. The Red Cross is now on the front line as the primary resource for providing the public with up to date information on emergency preparedness and training. We work with the community, schools, and businesses to educate Ashtabula County in case of disaster situations. We offer programs in Sheltering in Place, Safe on My Own (Latchkey), When the Power Goes Out, Make a Kit, Your Family Disaster Plan, and other programs that are audience specific.  Please contact our office if you would like a presentation for your group on a disaster preparedness topic.

Armed Forces Emergency Services

The American Red Cross is the only link a family has in an emergency situation between home and their loved ones serving in the Armed Forces. By an act of Congress, the American Red Cross is commissioned to provide Emergency Communications 24 hours a day. When a family needs to contact a loved one they must call the Red Cross. Please call our caseworker directly at 1-888-737-4306 at any time day or night.
